How the Wash Works FAQ

How does the wash work?

Going through the car wash tunnel is fast and easy. After paying at the pay station kiosk, a Team Member will guide you into the car wash conveyor and pre-treat your vehicle with a high-pressure rinse. Once in position, you'll put your car in neutral, turn off your wipers, take your foot off the pedals, and hands off the wheel. Then, your vehicle will be conveyed through multiple stages of treatments, rinses, and coatings to get your car cleaned, shined, and dried in about 3 minutes.

At the exit, illuminated signs will prompt you when it is time to drive away from the tunnel.

Will the wash damage my vehicle?

No. We use a cloth friction system that is effective at removing dirt. Our spinning friction scrubbers are explicitly made for auto wash applications to be gentle on the surface of your car. And we use eco-friendly, pH-balanced soaps to clean your vehicle without harming the paint.

Although our wash is very safe, we are not responsible for:

  • Power Antennas
  • Bug Shields
  • Luggage Racks
  • Sun Visors
  • Running Boards
  • Loose Chrome
  • Wipers
  • Glued Spoilers
  • Non-factory Items

Please remove trailer hitches before entering the wash tunnel.

Will my vehicle fit in the wash tunnel?

Our tunnel wash accepts all kinds of vehicles through the wash, including low, wide, and dually trucks, as long as they don't exceed 7'2" tall and 8' wide or have a tire width wider than 29½". Things that cannot go through the wash include

  • Trailer Hitches
  • Vehicles with bike racks attached
  • Trucks with beds that are not completely empty
  • Vehicles that are covered in hardened mud that breaks off in chunks
  • Storage pods on top of a vehicle
  • Ladder racks

This list is not all-inclusive. If you have any concerns, a Team Member can inspect your vehicle before going into the wash to ensure all requirements are met.

How do I prepare my vehicle for washing?

For trucks: remove any items stored in the bed of your truck. Any loose debris will become a flying hazard during drying.

For all vehicles:

  1. Remove trailer hitches.
  2. Store or remove roof racks and roof-top carriers (pods).
  3. Remove bike racks.
  4. Check your vehicle for loose or damaged body parts.

Can I clean the interior of my vehicle?

Yes. Free vacuums are available at the tunnel exit and trash receptacles.

Do you offer interior or exterior detailing?

We do not offer interior or exterior detailing services as an express wash. Instead, we invite you to visit our free vacuum lot to clean your vehicle's interior.

Do you recycle your water?

Reclaim water is used to lubricate the conveyor belt only. Reclaim water is not used to wash vehicles.

Is Blue Hippo Car Wash a franchise?

We're a locally owned and operated business, not part of a franchise or national chain.

We share a name and brand with several car washes in other states, but they're locally owned in those locations.
